TikTok Animation Reel; 1 of 10

JAR OF WONDERS

NATVIA Sugar free, approached the Swinburne Accelerator industry internship program to help create a social media marketing campaign on TikTok, featuring 10 short reels to promote and boost the sale of their hazelnut spread through their social media channel.

One of the reels I created was an animation with the narrative focusing on introducing the hazelnut spread through turning the main ingredients into characters NATVIA didn’t have across all of their live action content, which was important to create so their customers feel informed about the difference of their Hazelnut spread to other brands.

CHARACTER ANIMATION

The final design of the characters wouldn’t feature too much detail mainly just colour to create a little bit of depth. The arms and legs were animated to direct their attention at the viewer as they are buying the product. The Natvia ingredients were designed an animated to be natural and healthy, whereas the sugar was designed to look slanted and mutated moving in a sluggish manner to show how unnatural it is.

Each scene was created by designing the set first and then placing the characters and animations after. For the more complex scenes below, after building the scenery the character had to go through several test animations to feel natural within the scene. Once both elements were created the scene could fit along the timeline with the others.

IDENTITY OF JAR OF WONDERS

The typeface Oskar bold was chosen to fit the entertaining nature. The typeface was manipulated to bend to help give the characters personality. Oskar bold represented the fun and entertaining nature of the NATVIA characters. Gloria Hallelujah, the other typeface would create the mutated and antagonistic personality of the sugar.
